In 2019, URWERK launched the UR-100 SpaceTime, a futuristic spacecraft capable of traveling through time. The new UR-100V C52 case is composed of 52 layers of ultra-thin carbon fiber, showing the unique marbling of carbon fiber. The material's official name is high-resistance CTP (Carbon Thin Layer), which is an extremely elastic carbon with ultra-thin layers compressed in an epoxy polymer resin. The result is a lightweight case that weighs just 11 grams – including the titanium caseback. The time is displayed by the brand's famous rotating hour satellites, which perform a little magic and reappear in the form of a kilometer indicator. When the red arrow-shaped minute hand on the satellite hits the red 60-minute indicator, the next hour satellite kicks in and begins to orbit the minute. However, the hand of the elapsed time is no longer hidden and waiting for its next transition, but reappears to show the astronomical indication in kilometers: distance traveled on earth (at the 10 o'clock position) and distance traveled on earth (at 2 o'clock) ) within the 20 minute time frame.
The indicators corresponding to these distances are located on a raised black flange on the upper half of the dial. You can see the 555.55 km white inscription and the words ROTAT on the left. Like many of the legendary URWERK models, the black and neon green colour scheme has been reinvigorated, and the hour and minute indicators glow in bright green for enhanced legibility.
Caliber 12.02
The back of the UR-100V C52 shows the 12.02 movement. The redesign of the carousel to bring the hours closer to the minutes as they run along the 60-minute scale is one of the upgrades to the original Caliber 12.01, making reading the time easier and more intuitive. The complete rotor you can see on the back is drilled and controlled by a profiled propeller called Windfänger, which is used to minimise shock and reduce wear. The turntable and triple base plate are made of ARCAP, a non-ferrous and non-magnetic alloy. The automatic movement has a frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 48 hours.
